Tarangire National Park

“Like huge elephant’s legs Tarangire baobab trees pass slowly and silently beside us”.

The area, before game reserve, was declared national park just in 1970, it is therefore the youngest park among the northern circuit ones.

Located at 1100 metres altitude it takes its name from the Tarangire river which crosses the whole park from South to North.

Baobab trees widely dominate the flora. They are often martyrized by the other park colossus: the elephant who lives here in herds that can reach up to 100 units.

Dry season is the best to visit it, from mid July till mid February, and sometimes even a bit farther if rains season is late.
